Designing With, Not Against
The ability to make sense of your surroundings through design is something I find really special. It’s about shaping things to our own liking and trying to find logic in the middle of nonsense. While I was studying, I had the chance to meet and speak with Ronald Waterman. He was an amazing man who dedicated his life to the principle of building with nature instead of against it. Even though he focused on the relationship between people and waterways, his ideas stuck with me as a foundation for how I want to do business and design products today. If you respect the natural environment, the things you create just seem to hold more weight. Or just like when you drink a locally produced wine, it tastes better at the same location.
